Sitting Etiquette
Sitting in a physical circle is unlike anything that you may have experienced before. Especially if the circle is well developed with significant phenomena. For a sitting to be successful, there must be harmony between the medium and the sitters. The easiest way to ensure this is by following basic guidelines and by being completely honest with your circle members. This can be a lot more difficult to achieve than it sounds.
It is of vital importance that all members of the circle behave with dignity and respect, it is important to remember a physical circle is not a place for lewd jokes or inappropriate language. It takes dedication and trust for a medium to demonstrate and for the communicators to be able to come through with evidence, neither will appreciate inappropriate behaviour. If you are sitting in complete darkness in unfamiliar surroundings, disorientation is common even for experienced sitters, so do not feel embarrassed by asking your fellow members to reassure you of their position or to confirm if anyone else is experiencing the same phenomena. Loosing your sight will heighten other perceptions, you must remain focused on what is happening around you without becoming nervous. If something happens unexpectedly you may well physically jump, but never let your surprise translate in to obscenities.
We often experience long periods, sometimes of more than an hour when nothing appears to be happening. Despite inevitable frustration, it is critical that you remain patient and positive. Keeping the conversation light and discussing spiritual subjects will help pass the time until communicators are ready to begin their work. Usually this period ends with either the light level being altered, a strong breeze around the room or a sudden drop in temperature.
When phenomena does begin resist the temptation to over analyse it, check with others if they experienced the same thing and if you are not sure, ask for it to be repeated. Do not sit in silence for extended periods as this will lessen activity quickly or bring it to a halt. Encourage your communicators to come forward and should you be able to talk to them, politely request evidence. If you can see or hear them but only faintly, it is important to let them know that you aware of them so that they may build on their efforts. It is important to leave all debate of phenomena until after the circle has closed and you have left the seance room. Whilst the circle is open this could bring a demonstration to a standstill if the conversation becomes challenging.
Never openly challenge or provoke a communicator in to making a response, it is extremely rare that any harm would come to you but it is not unheard of, do not act irresponsibly. By misbehaving you will attract negative energies and a physical circle can not progress with these entities present. Negativity or egotism is not acceptable in circle, it will destroy any chance of true communication and will likely lead to disharmony amongst members. You must leave all problems and personal differences outside of the circle. If a heated discussion begins or any type of disagreement negatively affects the atmosphere, the circle will likely be closed until the next sitting or at the very least leave for a hours break. If you do behave in an irresponsible or unrespectable way, you will be asked to leave the circle and will not be readmitted or allowed to return.
Should you be lucky enough to witness a materialisation or a free moving object, NEVER touch it without permission from a communicator or the medium. You may cause serious injury to the medium.
