Introduction to the Furzey Hill Physical Circle

Since the formation of the Furzey Hill Physical Circle in 2005, a growing number of sitters and visitors have been privileged to witness a wide array of physical phenomena including materialisations and transfiguration. We are confident that the rare and controversial phenomena reported in our seance log is genuine, as many independent experiences concur. The voices heard on our seance recordings are not yet able to be explained but we continue to search for an understanding.The circle's objective is to work with our communicators in proving the continuance of personality and intelligence after death of the physical body.

Our circle blends the traditional Victorian with the modern experimental circle. Although we sit in a formal arrangement, there is no fixed format to sittings and one evening is seldom like the last. Materialisations and transfiguration are not consistent, their formation is dependant upon the temperament and health of both the medium and sitters. Digital recordings of seances began in May 2008, all without exception have recorded the voices of those we believe to be our communicators. The clarity of the voices can be astonishing as can other auditory phenomena.

The sitters and medium of the circle hold full time professional posts and do not profit from sittings, guests and researchers sit for no charge. All visitors are admitted only if they are acceptable to all attending members of the circle and are willing to adhere to our codes of conduct. Please note you may be required to meet for an informal discussion before sitting and this does not guarantee you a place.

Parapsychological Association, Gilbert Roller Research Grant

In August 2009, the Parapsychological Association, awarded a grant to Rachel for research on the voice recordings in the circle.

The aim of the research is to determine the source and validity of voices obtained on digital recorders during seances and to investigate their concurrence with sitter’s reports of visual phenomena in the circle. Previous and ongoing research within the circle demonstrates the consistent nature of the phenomena. As yet we have not been able to find a specific origin and we must actively investigate all recognised potential sources of energy that could possibly duplicate our findings. A full report will be presented in 2010.
