Contact the Circle

Q : What are the characteristics of a good circle member ?

A : Above all else they should be truthful, honest and open minded. But also very importantly must you and all other members of the circle be able to work with them and genuinely like them.Practically finding people that are suited to working together in a physical circle is quite difficult.

Before bringing in a new potential member to the circle, everyone must be agreed on the action and always interview outside of the circle. In our experience, applicants will often say exactly what they know you want to hear, you must be very cautious of who you allow in to your circle. This can not be stressed enough, especially when you are experiencing consistent phenomena or are developing a medium. Never be intimidated by a candidates experience or aspirations, even if they have considerably more knowledge than you, they are not necessarily right for your circle. If you all accept the potential member, set a trial period and make it clear in this period at anytime, either you or they may ask to leave without bad feeling. Liking someone and getting on well personally, is not reason enough to keep them in the circle. With experience, you will learn who is meant to be sitting with you.

Our current sitter sF, arrived with no experience of having sat in any type of circle. She had only Rachels word of what to expect, but within thirty minutes was every bit as happy and as comfortable as her fellow sitter. She continues to be a valuable asset to the circle, whose sensitivity continues to develop with each sitting. Bringing in a sitter with no experience is perfectly acceptable, as long as they know exactly what is expected of them. If you have an existing medium be sure if accepting a medium to be a sitter, that they accept they will not be working as the circle medium and will support your medium with their energy. It is important that you be firm in explaining the way you are working and do not allow your circles sitting to be modified by a visitor, however experienced.
