Scalford Hall, 26th March 2009 : Rachel , 0000-0100 hrs, VN and LS dictaphones.
This was a business trip and a very busy one. I had intended to bring all of my equipment into the hall, but time did not permit further investigation. The recording was made in my bedroom, which was isolated by two storage rooms either side and a corridor with no opposite rooms.
Being very tired I did not expect to pick up any voices at all but was pleasantly surprised at the recording. None of the voices are very clear but all clips are loud enough to hear what is being said. There was virtually no conversation by known communicators, none of the voices here are recognised.
The building was old but reasonably renovated, the lights within my room did dim and flicker often. Whether that was the wiring or our friends, I do not know.

The difference in quality between the two recorders was not as much as I had expected. Even on the LS machine, many voices were distorted and hard to define. What was noticeable, was the quantity of voices recorded on the LS. There were considerably more than the last time it was used. A pair of headphones will help in hearing some of the recordings from the VN machine.
