Red Lion at Avebury. 12th March 2009 : Rachel and a group, LS dictaphone, 1100-1145hrs.
We had booked a room at this very well known pub for a group day out. The first session was at 11am, when there were few people in the building apart from us. We were seated in a quiet area away from members of staff, who did not enter the room whilst we were working.
For one part of the day, members were asked to prepare presentations of characters from history. Unfortunately due to the lighting and size of the laptop we were using, some of the participants were unable to see the screen. A colleague kindly offered to read out the text of the presentations for them to hear.
We recognise there is always the chance of picking up extraneous voices when recording in the daytime in an occupied building. However, as we were in a quiet area, we are sure that there were no persons near to us to account for the clips posted here.
A member of staff did tell us of the alleged haunting but we did not pick up anything that could be attributed to these characters, apart from possibly number 8 - this has not been investigated as yet.

The high definition recorder was used to minimise noise as the building sits very close to a main road. The VN recorder was also used but the recording picked up so much noise, listening was uncomfortable and the recording was discarded.
